Exhibition Continues Upstairs

The scale model points to a world outside itself, to a possible reality. The doorless space of Pitcairn Museum appears to be a closed world in itself, a dreamed version of a white exhibition space. The staircase offers an escape route. Or does it?

For Exhibition Continues Upstairs Gerbrand Burger made three staircases in Finland from a two inch slab of birch wood from the region of Porvoo. Two staircases for the exhibition in the museum and one that will be returned to the Finnish forest. Thus there are two parallell exhibtions, each with its own future.
